Anna Weltner

Inspired by John Berger’s 1980 essay “Why Look at Animals?” this observational film in five acts explores the urban spaces that exist for the purpose of, well, looking at animals. Then I came across a Baroque painting of a woman who seemed to suffer from the same malady. Thus began a speculative, art-historico-medical documentary. Part research project, part self-portrait, Goitre explores the human relationship to art history and the idea that we see what we want to see.
